Memory - Matcha Mochi

I have an appalling memory if I don't concentrate. There are photos of items I've baked that have never made it to this page because I forgot where the recipe is. Pretty frustrating.
I really must make it a point to write down/save the recipe as I go along.

I still have some red bean paste left from a while ago so I figured I'd try my hand at making mochi since I've been craving it for a while. This mochi wasn't sweet enough for me though the red bean was pretty tasty.

Fleeting - Boston Cream Pie

I wasn't sure if I should dedicate this post to the victims of the Boston Marathon Bombing. It seems right and reflective though a bit odd to dedicate such a dessert for such a devastating event.
I shan't try to write about the event, nor any other really. I have only come to realise that Singapore is just quite isolated. It's not that we don't know what is going on... just that we don't know what's going on. Frustrating much.

So I'll just get down to the post.

Easy Cheesy - Corn Bread

Well, easy cheesy cos I added cheese in this recipe and it is just oh-so-simple!

I originally bought the white cornmeal for corndog muffins I made quite a while back. Surprisingly, the cornmeal has lasted for super long (and I mean years) in an airtight zip lock bag.

The great thing about cornmeal is the texture. It's like the polenta in the Lemon Cake. That extra something. (: Unlike other breads, this bread doesn't take time to rise and stuff so you don't have to set aside a day to make this! Brilliant. (:

Celebration! - Strawberry Easter Cake

Hello one and all! :D
I thought it was appropriate to do an easter post this year too and I racked my brains for a dessert that was Easter worthy. Well, I had bought a punnet of strawberries and a pink cake came to mind. Now how does pink not shout "Easter!"? Or "Spring!"?
I hunted high and low for a recipe that would delight the palettes of the less-sugary Singaporean and I think I may have done the trick!
The strawberries burst forth flavour and tartness I couldn't be more pleased with.

Tint - Put a bow on it.

Hello!
Here's a non-bake post. (:
For Christmas last year I made a handful of crafty items for friends and family. Again, an inspiration from Pinterest! Specifically this item.
Bows have found a soft part in my heart and I find them a simple but effective statement in an outfit.
It adds dress to casual, feminine and delicate to formal outfits, and in some outfits, can add that much-needed pop! of colour.

And again - Quick Puffy Treats

Sigh. I've really gotta kick the bad habit of baking and not posting. And I think I've just found my inspiration.
What has been most disappointing is the idea that this website has no viewers. That my posts inspire no one. And that truth has been busted!!! This fact made me do some crazy dance in my nightie. Hehe.
Thank you Addison! :D

I think I should put a list of pending posts so as to avoid procrastination. Need to be held accountable!

Up and coming....

Treat - Red Bean Bbang

Oh no oh no. Way way too long. Sigh. Okay, I've got 3 posts. One last Christmas post and 2 new posts since then and one coming up for Chinese New Year.

So here's a recipe I've done recently. I had some red bean paste at hand from a previous recipe and wanted to make some red bean buns for breakfast or a snack. I looked around and found this super recipe!

Christmas Post III - Patterned Zipper Pouches

Hello again!
Christmas was extra special cos I settled down to the sewing machine and discovered that making zipper pouches were just easy peasy!
It took some time to plan and a few trials & errors to discover what worked better.
I got this idea from Pinterest and in this post I'll just share a few tips on what makes this pouch easier to make.
I made 2 types of pouches...a boxy pouch from this post on Three Bears and a modified version which was a combination of the boxy pouch with this pouch from Leslie's Art & Sew.
